Dinner Speaker is John Bisset – Behind the Badge. John is one of our newest members so it will be wonderful to gain some insight to his life and work. This meeting is on Wednesday because some members will be attending Moruya’s Changeover and 70th celebrations on Thursday.

Moruya Rotary Changeover and 70th
This Thursday it’s ‘party time’ at Moruya as Moruya Rotarians celebrate the Club’s 70th anniversary as well as their Changeover from President Tony Armstrong. The Club achieved a net gain of seven members in 2025-2026: on 1 July 2025, the club had 33 members; by 3 June 2026 it was 40 members. A small group of Narooma Rotarians led by President Julie will represent our Club and pass on the good wishes from us all.
The latest Moruya newsletter mentions the great success of Moruya’s Community Volunteer Expo in which Rotarian and Council employee Rhonnie South played a leading role, assisted by 5 Rotarians on the day. Meanwhile an enthusiastic group pf Moruya Rotarians completed a full detail of the vehicle being donated to the new Hospital Rehabilitation Unit for training purposes.
From Batemans Bay Rotary
Nearly 60 Rotarians and guests enjoyed Batemans Bay’s Changeover last Thursday. Guests included the Federal and State Members and a representative of the Mayor. Outgoing President Neil Simpson presented the Annual Report which will be emailed to all members and be available on their website. It was also circulated with the newsletter.
Incoming President Robert Shore outlined his priorities for the coming year and welcomed the new Board. They’re looking forward to another busy and rewarding year ahead.

Bega Rotary’s Changeover was attended by 39 members and guests. Formalities were kept to a minimum with plenty of time for fellowship. Outgoing President Charlie Blomfield provided his reflections on the past Rotary year, while incoming President Colleen Rietschel outlined her priories for the year with special emphasis on Youth. A copy of the Annual Report for 2025-2026 was sent with the newsletters.

Saturday 11 July: Narooma Rotary Changeover
Spotlight on new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital
On Thursday 25 July our Club will host a NSW Health team to talk to our community about the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital to be completed in 2027. Please note this will be at 3pm at Narooma Golf Club. The four-member Panel will do a presentation and then open it up for questions. A normal Rotary meeting will follow at 6pm, should people like to stay on.
The Club is inviting other organisations and guests; please also invite your own guests. Moruya and Batemans Bay Rotary Clubs have already hosted similar evenings which were well attended.
The Regional Hospital currently under construction in Moruya is on target to open next year after many years of planning and building. The $300 million Level 4 hospital will serve communities from Narooma to Batemans Bay, providing the region’s first Intensive Care Unit, a larger Emergency Department, and upgraded maternity and surgical units. Extensive planning is well advanced for the transition of two hospitals – Moruya and Batemans Bay – into one.
Also to note is that all three Eurobodalla Rotary Clubs, including Narooma, are heavily involved in community fundraising for Carers’ Accommodation at the new hospital.
