Sunday’s Market Fine weather, new stalls and the Narooma Forest Rally generating more people in town meant for a very successful Market. Narooma Rotary’s new branding was trialled with the Market flyer and created a lot of interest and very positive feedback. Regular stallholders including Mark’s Funky Stuff, Mr Happy Pants and Bemboka Impressions were satisfied with their turnover considering that the winter markets are typically difficult. New eateries such as Mother Tucker, Charlie’s Little Kitchen, Curdelicious, Outback Fudge and Rosso Pepe Pizza all added to delectable food choices. Narooma Rotary members and their friends gaining new skills working at their first markets enjoyed their experience and created new energy. Special thanks to Stacy for her hard work serving food in the Rotary van. Market Manager Antoinette Lee Moruya Rotary parties Three Narooma Rotarians represented our Club at Moruya’s Changeover and 70th celebrations last Thursday – President Julie Hartley and fellow Board members Julie Drummond and Ann Hegerty. They were among an amazing 95 attendees who included visiting Rotarians from Batemans Bay, Queanbeyan, Goulburn and Crookwell as well as Narooma. The Rotary Club of Moruya was established in 1956 through the dedicated efforts of local community leader Don Mackay and members of the Rotary Club of Queanbeyan. Their vision, enthusiasm and commitment laid the foundation for what has become seven decades of service to the Moruya community. One particularly special moment during the evening was the recognition of Charter member Michel P Nader; Michel has been associated with Moruya Rotary throughout its entire 70 year history, an extraordinary achievement that few Rotarians anywhere in the world could match. His commitment, wisdom and service exemplify the values of Rotary and provide an inspiring link between the club’s founding generation and its future leaders. Outgoing President Tony Armstrong reflected on a successful year for the club, highlighting strong community engagement, support for youth programs, successful fundraising activities and the continuing positive impact Rotary has throughout the Eurobodalla. Paul Harris Fellowships were extended to Col Jay, John Sewell and Steve Picton for their outstanding contributions to Rotary and the wider community. We’ve mentioned before that Moruya Rotarians are in Moruya’s Main Street Banner Team. They were out and about in the cold last week putting up street banners promoting the Sea Otter bike event in September. Their mentoring teacher is Mellissa Pecovnik with some assistance from David McInnes. They will represent Pakistan. MUNA is organised by the Rotary Club of Canberra Sunrise and sponsored by Rotary Clubs to build international understanding and promote goodwill for world peace; in the process it builds student confidence in public speaking and debating skills The venue is the former House of Representatives Chamber in Old Parliament House, now calledthe Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD).
